Data is good...

CURRENT BANKROLL:
Real Money: $67.55
FTP Points: $169.66
TOTAL BANKROLL: $237.21

The one good thing about these quick tournaments is that you can get some useful data quickly. The game really only encompasses the "end game" of most tourneys -- usually preflop pushing and races. But that's a fairly mathematical aspect of the game, which is why I'm enjoying it I think.

Here's the data so far:
51 Tournaments
24 In The Money (ITM) finishes (47%)
6 wins, 7 2nd place, 11 3rd place finishes.

On average, each player should have 5.67 finishes at each position 1-9.

Love/Hate

CURRENT BANKROLL:
Real Money: $65.15
FTP Points: $169.59
TOTAL BANKROLL: $234.74

Started this morning in the $3.50 Turbos reminded of why I LOVE poker. My hands were holding up, I cruised into the money in the first one and ended up finishing 2nd. Was well on my way to an ITM finish in the 2nd one I was playing simultaneously, then had to sweat a torturous bubble that lasted probably 30 hands or more, as I watched the short-stacks survive time and again. Eventually, the bubble popped on me, as my trip 7's lost to kings full.

Then, stared two more, and POOF, I was reminded why I HATE poker. A-J all in pre-flop vs. A-6, a six hits the flop. Gone.

In the other one, a guy pushes all-in with A-10, I call with A-A. Poof, two tens on the flop. Gone

I'm finding posting the good and the bad to this blog to be therapeutic. Venting seems to get rid of the bad feelings quicker, and I might buy-in again earlier than if I internalized these bad beats.

That being said, I do realize there are many things in life that are WAY more important than poker, especially when we're talking about only a few dollars here and there. But my friends know that I do take it personally -- whether the stakes are pennies or hundreds of dollars, I care just the same. I just need to keep everything in perspective!

CURRENT BANKROLL:
Real Money: $70.90
FTP Points: 33,910.51 (worth $169.55)

Finally broke the streak of winless games. Actually won more races than I lost in 2 games after work on Friday, all while enjoying a Michelob Amber Bock... ahhhhh

Ugh....bad beats

CURRENT BANKROLL
Real Money: $51.45
FTP Points: 33,897.91 (worth $169.49)
Total Bankroll: $220.94

Recent finishes in $3.50+$0.30 Super Turbos (out of 9, top 3 pay):
5-3-5-4-5-6-2-3-9-4-3-4-2

ITM percentage still very good, but haven't finished 1st in 21 in a row...hard to win money without 1st place money!

Getting a little tired of the $3.50's, might go back to the Satellites for a 1200 point ($6) buyin, which pay out 4400 points ($22) for 1st and 2nd, and 2000 points ($10) for third. They're still Turbos, but I'm sure the format will seem generous after the super turbos!

Slow 'n' Steady

Real Money: $63.05
FTP Points: 33864.31 (worth $169.32)
TOTAL BANKROLL: $232.37

Four more 3rd place finishes in the $3.50+$0.30 Super Turbo
That's 5 consecutive 3rd place finishes, and 19 in a row in the top 5 (out of 9). I'm definitely playing tighter than most others in this format.

Now 13 ITM finishes in 24 tourneys, but 8 of those 13 are 3rd place -- more evidence of playing tight, but I've taken some bad beats when in 3rd place. At least the so-called poker gods are waiting until I'm in the money to deliver their harshness!
